Today I would like to focus on the on-the-ground champions for the vision of Covenant Children’s Homes: our pastors. CCH trains, educates and is involved with the care our pastors provide to our children.
Our pastors and their wives take in 5-10 orphaned children. They become earthly father figures to the fatherless and work hard to foster an atmosphere of family. Our pastors raise these children, accepting and loving each child uniquely.
Our pastors are often handed children who I would consider to be that “one” sheep who wanders, Jesus talks about it in Matthew 18:
“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? 13 And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! 14 In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.”
Our pastors pursue those children with kindness, faithfulness and joy. On top of this, our pastors make sure our children stay on top of their school work, eat and sleep properly as children their age should, and keep them healthy. Our pastors are also providing for their own wife and children, making sure to be the husband and father to them. They speak life into their families. And we are indebted to say the least.
We would love to include our pastors and their family in our Christmas celebrations.
