I really can’t imagine a better way of spending Christmas this year than in India!

In 2011, I spent a month with CCH when I was on the World Race. Now, 3 years later, I returned to see many familiar faces as well as SO many new faces! The CCH Semi-Christmas celebration was like nothing I have experienced before: 220 children singing and dancing to worship songs, listening to the Christmas story, and receiving their very own gift.

What amazed me most was how the children reacted to receiving their gifts. Each child received the same thing: a new outfit. I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid, I was never grateful to receive clothing; I just wanted toys. But these kids were all SO joyful and thankful for their clothes. Even though they sat and watched every other child open up the exact same gift, they still had big smiles as they ripped off the wrapping paper to reveal their own gift.

My Christmas gift this year was the privilege of returning to Tangaturu for a day to visit the boys my team and I spent several weeks with when we visited 3 years ago. I felt like I was going to burst at the seams with how much joy I felt to be able to see these boys (who are now such handsome young men!) again. It is a privilege I didn’t think I would get to experience. The boys remembered my team and asked how everyone was doing. I attended their church service and was able to worship Jesus with them with singing and dancing. Afterwards, we played Ninja – a favorite game my team would play with them. Then I prayed over them and the pastor who is raising them. The time with them was short, but it filled me up so much.

God gives us such good gifts. Of course, the best gift of all is a relationship with Him through Jesus. But God, in his goodness and grace toward His children, gives us an abundant life (John 10:10). This Christmas, I experienced His abundance in India.
